Life Continues

It appears that the foundations are complete on the new apartment buildings going in here. I am glad I am not moving into one. They are using the concrete slab method for the bottom floor units. I have lived in apartments like that, and it makes for a very cold, hard floor. But they have finished getting the foundation drains in, the electrical wiring, plumbing, and the slabs are poured. The next step, once the slabs have cured, will be framing. That will be when the constant noise of nail guns will begin.

So far, we have experienced a barrel chipper (one they can dump entire trees into and it turns them into 4 inch wood chips), it was a monster. there are only something like 10 of these things in the country. Then of course, all the tractor work to clear and grade the plots. And then the cement trucks and cement pumper truck to pour the foundations. Fortunately, I am at work during the day, and construction stops before I get home, however, my wife has to put up with it every day. She seams to be dealing with it well, from what she tells me anyway. I am looking for links to some of the equipment we have seen on site here. As soon as I find them, I will update this post.

The job is going well. My networking skills are increasing every day. And that is a big bonus for me. I will have some great, very marketable skills when this contract comes to an end. Perhaps that will be the ticket to a full time, permanent position somewhere. Of course, nothing is permanent in this life. There was a time when corporate loyalty existed, those days are long gone.

Not much else to comment on today. When I have more to discuss, I will enter a new post.
